  1. This is by far one of the dumbest things I have read is year;

    “Check your privilege”, for example, is a profoundly stupid trope that states that only those with personal experience of something should comment, or that if a person is making an argument, they should immediately give way if their view is contradicted by somebody with a different life story. It is hard to imagine a more dishonest intellectual position than “check your privilege”, yet daily I see intelligent women who should know better embracing it”

    All experience is equally valid when it comes to having a point of view? Here’s another way to look at this, The whole piece is a holocaust denier’s fantasy. Why bother asking the survivors of the camps what it was like when their experience is only as valid as everyone else’s.

    The whole thing adds up to “I haven’t experienced that so it can’t be real.”

      Sorry but

      So is my opinion of what it was like in a nazi death camp and the mental effects of such an experience as valid as someone who did actually experience it. Hmmm

      No it is not.

      Why because I have no idea.

      And that is why check your priveledge is valid and it is the anathema to the holocaust denier an not manner.

      Check your priveledge suggests that knowledge comes from experience.

      Less experience less knowledge.

      I am Jewish and assume l mensch is.
      I am black and assume she is not

      Anti-semitism is supposedly rife.

      Yet racism a thing of the past.

      Check your priveledge merely suggests that you cannot say or be greatly opinionated about the existence or effects of something that you have not experienced.

      It’s pretty simple
